The SoBoCo Learning Garden

Mission:
The mission of the SoBoCo Learning Garden is to create and sustain an experiential learning garden which is integrated with the school curriculum and kitchen—involving the children, families, and community members of the Southern Boone County School District.

Location:
The garden is located behind the primary and elementary schools, look for the red shed. Students, teachers, and community members are always welcome in the garden—it belongs to all of us!

1) The after-school program for 3rd-5th graders will continue this year with a focus on learning gardening skills, cooking garden produce, and creating garden art. (Short option: After-school garden club for 3rd-5th graders)

2) With the 2nd grade, we will begin a Harvest of the Season program that connects local growers and local food with the classroom curriculum. (Short option: Harvest of the Season program with the 2nd grade)

3) For each grade level, we will offer one garden activity linked to a specific curricular concepts being taught in the classroom. (Short option: Gardening activities that correspond to classroom curriculum offered to each grade level)
