Mrs. Mathys

My students are always curious about my life outside of school.  Although I love teaching, I do enjoy other activities as well!  Every morning (except Sundays!) I get up at 5 a.m. to run 4 miles with my dog Louie.  In the summer, I like to go bike riding on the Katy Trail.  I like to water ski when we visit relatives in Louisiana.  On cold winter days, I like to snuggle up with a book and my favorite pillow, named "Ralphie."  I also enjoy drawing, and I recently finished a Prismacolor drawing of my dog Louie laying on his favorite spot - my pillow!  
I played the violin when I was in the third and fourth grades, and I recently began playing again.  I take lessons at the Capital Music Company, and I am enjoying it much more as an adult, than I ever did as a child!  I have several Creative Memories photo albums that I work on from time to time. My favorite date with my husband is to go to eat at The St. Louis Bread Company (Panera Bread) and then to go to a movie.  My husband and I once took ballroom dancing lessons.  That was a lot of fun...I'd like to find an instructor to teach us again...we became quite talented doing the Fox Trot and Waltz!  I like to travel, and I've been to a lot of places.  My favorite places that I've been are:  Portland, Oregon and Bar Harbor, Maine.  I've been to Paris, France, but I didn't like it that much while I was there - (I missed the comforts of the United States!) If teachers were paid more, and I had a lot more money, I would take more vacations...an exotic island sounds like a wonderful place to go.  I love cheese and Diet Coke, but not necessarily together!   And Go MIZZOU!
