Jamestown Middle/High School Standards and Eligibility
Jamestown C-1 School places education as the top priority for all of our students. For this reason, the following standards have been put in place to ensure the success of the students. Both a weekly study list and weekly watch list have been created.
The weekly study list is for any student receiving an F in any of his/her classes. These students will be notified and placed on the study list, thus making them ineligible for any extracurricular activities for the following week. At the end of the week, if the student has raised his/her grade to a passing level, he/she will be removed from the list.
The weekly watch list is for any student receiving a D+, D, or D- in any of his/her classes. These students will be notified that they are close to an F grade (as a warning), but will not be removed from extracurricular activities for that week. at the end of the week, if the student has raised his/her grade to a C- or higher, he/she will be removed from the list.
The procedure for both weekly lists will be as follows:
1.) The cutoff for weekly grades will be a 3:00 P.M. on Thursday.
2.) Any student placed on either the Study List or the Watch List will be notified by 2:50 P.M. Friday, and a letter will be sent home to the parent/guardian.
3.) Students placed on either list will stay on said list for the following Monday through Sunday (a seven day period).
Exceptions:
1.) Co-curricular activity eligibility will be based on the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) standards. Co-Curricular activities are those where the student receives a class grade for their participation. the student will participate in co-curricular activities at the discretion of the activity advisor.
2.) Student-Athletes will be allowed to practice with their team during their period of ineligibility.
3.) Any student missing assignments due to illness or excused absence, will be given time to complete those assignments, as per the Student Handbook guidelines, without being placed on the Study List or the Watch List.
Extracurricular activities include, but are not limited to, the following: athletics, college days, FFA, field trips, homecoming activities*, math contests. NHS, prom, science fair, student council activities, etc. Attendance at events will be included as well.
*-Homecoming and prom will include all royalty (King, Queen candidates, etc.) These students must not have any failing grades at the time of nomination or election.
